Whether you're just beginning or ready to fly, our GIS course blocks are designed to build real-world geospatial skills—from data analysis to drone mapping. Hover over a block to learn more.

GIS 101 Introduction to Web GIS
A comprehensive exploration of Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS Online, a cloud-based mapping and analysis platform, and its suite of applications. Students will delve into various aspects of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including data visualization, spatial analysis, and collaborative mapping. Through hands-on exercises and projects, students will master the basics of MS Excel, earn an MS Excel certificate, and gain proficiency in utilizing ArcGIS Online apps for tasks such as map making & spatial analysis, crowdsourcing location data within the school, field mapping, digital storytelling, web app development, collaboration sites within school, and real-time data visualization.
GIS Entry Level Course
This course introduces the concepts and components of a Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It also teaches the essential skills of operating a functional GIS through the use of ArcGIS software package. By completing this course, students will understand the operational processes of spatial data acquisition, metadata development, geodatabase design, spatial query and display, spatial analysis and modeling, preliminary GIS application development, cartographic mapping and dynamic visualization, and GIS implementation basics.
GIS Drones to Smart Mapping
You Flew the Drone, Now What?
GIS Entry Level 3 – Drones to Smart Mapping takes you beyond flying, teaching you how to process, analyze, and transform drone imagery into high-resolution maps, orthomosaics, and spatial insights. Learn how to use geospatial intelligence for agriculture, climate studies, and urban planning, turning raw data into smart decisions. Advance your GIS skills, turn drone data into smart maps and make an impact. Prerequisite: Completion of GIS 101 and GIS Entry Level Course.
